Tōyōkan is a 15-minute drive from Sendai Station, or 45 minutes from Sendai Airport, across the Hirose River in the hilly area of Mukaiyama. The restaurant started business in 1907. All of its 7 private rooms command impressive views of Sendai City, making them the perfect place to spend time while enjoying the delicious seasonal food that reflects the time of year of the panoramas outside. The restaurant makes a point of catering to its customers’ likes and dislikes, so if there is something you cannot eat do not hesitate to let the staff know. Fully vegetarian meals that use no meat, seafood or even dashi stock can be provided. The staff will do their utmost to give their customers the most enjoyable of experiences in private rooms with the best in Japanese cuisine and stunning views. The rooms are decorated in a variety of styles, but all have that unique Japanese elegance. The restaurant is barrier free, with a sloped entrance, seat elevators on stairs, and bathroom facilities suitable for wheelchairs. Reservations are only taken by phone. This allows the staff to provide an all-round personalized gourmet experience, from the type of room (out of the 7 available) and seating style, to the occasion and the likes and dislikes of the participants. Mail and fax reservations do not allow this, and since Tōyōkan wants to provide the ultimate in customer service, are not accepted. Your understanding is appreciated.
