15 minutes by car from Izumi Chūō Station on the Sendai Subway Nanboku Line, Gyūjin opened its Sendai Izumi Gyūjin sister restaurant in July 2014. The new restaurant’s white exterior and cow motif help it stand out.
Your experience starts when you walk from the car park to the restaurant entrance, since the feeling is of walking through a beautiful garden, the green of the plants contrasting with the clean white of the restaurant exterior. This is all part of the owner’s intention to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience for his customers. The restaurant is comprised entirely of private rooms or booths with elegant interiors. Gyūjin’s flagship menu is beef, and the restaurant purchases an entire cow which is then expertly prepared and matured for at least 45 days by the dry ageing technique before it arrives on the customer’s plate as steak and meat for barbecuing. Dry aging concentrates the flavor and sweetness of what was already excellent quality meat, and has to be eaten to be believed. Menu recommendations include the chef’s special course, in which the restaurant serves what is particularly good at the time of ordering, and the tokusen Gyūjin mori, which gives the chance to eat both steak and yakiniku, which is sliced meat served raw and barbecued by the customer. The private rooms offer beautiful interiors made out of a variety of different woods, such as walnut, cypress and chestnut, and make the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal of gourmet beef, whether it is a private date or a business dinner.
